Founded in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that no girl or woman is held back by her period. By integrating sustainable menstrual products, AI-driven educational platforms, blockchain technology for transparent supply chains, and locally manufactured solutions in partnership with the Robotic Association of Nepal, we are building a future where menstrual health is a right, not a privilege.

Our Story

In Nepal, approximately 70% of girls and women face significant barriers to menstrual health. These barriers stem from the high cost of sanitary products, deeply rooted cultural stigma, and limited access to resources, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. Traditional approaches to addressing period poverty often focus solely on product distribution, but this fails to tackle the underlying issues of shame, lack of education, and unsustainable supply chains. Aba Dhukka was born out of the recognition that a holistic, community-driven solution was needed one that addresses both the supply of affordable, eco-friendly menstrual products and the demand for awareness and stigma reduction.

Our journey began with a vision to create systemic change. We partnered with local organizations like the Robotic Association of Nepal to produce sustainable menstrual products using innovative, made-in-Nepal technology. By combining this with AI-powered educational tools and blockchain for supply chain transparency, we ensure that our impact is scalable, ethical, and deeply rooted in the needs of Nepali women. Our approach is designed to empower communities, create economic opportunities, and foster a culture of openness around menstruation.

Why Aba Dhukka?

  • By Women, For Women: Our team, composed primarily of Nepali women, brings firsthand insight into the cultural and social challenges surrounding menstruation. This allows us to design solutions that resonate with local communities and address their unique needs.
  • Tech for Good: We harness cutting-edge technology to amplify our impact. Our AI-driven educational platform delivers accessible, culturally sensitive content to girls and women, even in remote areas. Meanwhile, blockchain technology ensures transparency and fairness in our supply chain, building trust and accountability.
  • Rooted in Community: We empower women by training them as pad producers and menstrual health educators. This not only creates sustainable livelihoods but also fosters trust and leadership within communities, ensuring long-term impact.

Our Core Beliefs

  1. At Aba Dhukka, we are guided by a set of core principles that shape every aspect of our work:
  2. Menstruation is Natural: No girl or woman should feel ashamed, excluded, or limited because of her period. We are committed to breaking taboos and fostering open conversations about menstrual health.
  3. Access is a Right: Safe, eco-friendly, and biodegradable menstrual products should be affordable and available to all, regardless of income or location.
  4. Knowledge is Power: Education is the key to dismantling stigma. By providing freely accessible, culturally relevant awareness programs, we empower girls and women to take control of their health and futures.
  5. Sustainability Matters: From biodegradable pads to ethical, locally sourced supply chains, we prioritize solutions that protect both people and the planet.

Our Approach

Aba Dhukka’s model is built on three pillars: Innovation, Education, and Empowerment.

Innovation

We partner with the Robotic Association of Nepal to produce high-quality, biodegradable sanitary pads using locally developed technology. These pads are affordable, eco-friendly, and designed to meet the needs of Nepali women. By manufacturing locally, we reduce dependency on imported products, lower costs, and create jobs within communities.

Additionally, we leverage blockchain technology to ensure transparency and traceability in our supply chain. This guarantees that our products are ethically produced and reach those who need them most, without exploitation or waste.

Education

Through our AI-driven platform, we deliver tailored menstrual health education to girls, women, and communities across Nepal. Our content is available in multiple languages and formats, ensuring accessibility even in remote areas with limited internet connectivity. By addressing myths, providing practical guidance, and promoting open dialogue, we aim to normalize menstruation and empower women with knowledge.

Empowerment

Aba Dhukka trains women to become pad producers and menstrual health educators, creating sustainable income opportunities and fostering leadership. These women serve as role models and trusted advocates within their communities, driving grassroots change and building a network of support for menstrual health.
